Citroën DS 19 1/43, by Dinky Toys
This is one of the most beautiful (and expensive) cars in my collection. The Citroën DS (Déesse) was a very innovating car built between 1955 and 1975. Its body was non-conformist but extremely aerodynamic and the suspension was hydropneumatic and self-leveling.
The Dinky Toys diecast I own (Dinky Toys # 522) represents the DS 19 version, so the original version with its 1.9 liter engine (followed by the DS 21 with a 2.1 liter engine in 1965 and the DS 23 with a 2.3 liter engine in 1973).
The DS was so special that it was used very often in tv and film productions. The movie 'The Goddess of 1967" was named after the Citroën DS.
Citroën has recently relaunched the sub-brand DS for a series of premium versions of their cars (DS3, DS4, soon DS5).
