The Peugeot 201 was the first volume model built by Peugeot. It was built from 1929 to 1937 in the Sochaux plant.
It was initially powered by a 1.1 liter with 23 HP. Later on the engine grew to 1.3 and even 1.5 liter.
The 201 also meant for Peugeot the start of the tradition of the three numerals with central zero.
